 As a visiting master’s student, I worked on the phylogenetics of culture. I investigated whether cultural practices (such as religion, government, food preferences, etc.) can be properly studied using methods such as the Bayesian estimation of ancestral states on a phylogeny built from vocabulary lists. This was my final project in the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Evolutionary Biology, in which I also studied fish paleontology in Sweden and the modelling of innovation in France. Prior to this, I earned a B.Sc. in biology at McGill University.

*Étienne was a visiting master's student from the *Erasmus Mundus Evolutionary Biology Program. He also received an additional Bachelor of Science in computer science at McGill University, where he was involved in machine learning research.**
