As a visiting master’s student, I worked on the phylogenetics of culture. I investigated whether cultural practices (such as religion, government, food preferences, etc.) can be properly studied using methods such as the Bayesian estimation of ancestral states on a phylogeny built from vocabulary lists. This was my final project in the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Evolutionary Biology, in which I also studied fish paleontology in Sweden and the modelling of innovation in France. Prior to this, I earned a B.Sc. in biology at McGill University.
Étienne was a visiting master's student from the Erasmus Mundus Evolutionary Biology Program. He also received an additional Bachelor of Science in computer science at McGill University, where he was involved in machine learning research.
